his is the original Kukuji decoration, "Kabuto of the King," supervised by Emi Wada. Emi Wada, a leading costume designer in Japan who has received an Academy Award, has overseen the creation of this stylish Nanban armor helmet decoration, meticulously crafted by traditional craftsman So-ko Nakamura.
The elegant folding screen, inspired by Ito Jakuchu's carp painting, beautifully complements the majestic helmet supervised by Wada. The striking helmet, featuring a front decorative element with gold plating, reflects the eclectic style of the Azuchi-Momoyama period known as "Tōsei Gusoku." The unique contrast of red and black, characteristic of Wada's work, adds to its charm.
Set against the picturesque carp screen, this luxurious helmet decoration elegantly enhances celebrations on special occasions, embodying both bravery and grace.
Tango no Sekku (Children's Day), celebrated on May 5, corresponds to around June 5 today. Why not celebrate this occasion along with the fragrant season of irises?
Dimensions (width × depth × height): 25.59 × 15.75 × 20.08 inches.
